I have a daughter who is 12 and a picky eater. We are staying on site and getting the DDP. Is it possible to exclude her from the plan and pay cash for her food or are we required to include her in the plan since she will be staying on site?

    Hi Eileen!

There are some many incredible restaurants in Walt Disney World and they are not your average restaurant but and actual dining experiences! So I am assuming that you are purchasing the Disney Dining Plan which includes for each night of your package, for each Guest in your party ages 3 and up:

    1 Table-Service Meal
    1 Quick-Service Meal
    1 Snack

This means that everyone in the room has to have the same package but it is up to you how you choose to spend the dinning credits. Also you can choose to pay for any meal out of pocket as well. For example if you have 4 people staying for 4 nights with a dinning package, then when you check in to your Resort you will have 16 Table Service Credits, 16 Quick Service Credits, and 16 Snack Credits to use during your stay which are good until midnight on your departure day. So one day you could choose to eat at 2 Table Service Meals and pay cash for your daughter for those two meals. You would have only used 6 of your 16 Table Service Credits instead of 8 thereby saving 2 of your Table Service Credits for another meal.

I have used this strategy many times with my 12 year old son and it has enabled us to eat at more Table Service Restaurants. We saved the Table Service Credits by paying cash for kids meals which are less expensive than adult meals instead of using a Table Service Credit. The only watch out is that at Buffet type meals you have to pay the full adult price for kids 10 and up.

I hope you have some amazing dining experiences at Walt Disney World on your next trip!
