My daughter now has a phone and wants to pair her magicband + to her own phone. Would she have to have a Disney account to do that?

Welcome to planDisney, Erin, it’s so nice to meet you!

I’m thrilled to hear that you will be arriving at Walt Disney World Resort later this week. You’re going to have such a magical visit! I can’t wait for you to arrive and enjoy everything there is to do and see.

MagicBands are the perfect accessory and key to navigating your way through Walt Disney World Resort. I’m sure your daughter is eager to manage her own. To link her MagicBand to her phone, she will need a My Disney Experience account. If she is over the age of 13, she can go ahead and create her account for herself now. Otherwise, she will still need to be managed by you, and personally, I’ve found no difference. I am the planner in our group, so I link everyone's MagicBands to them through my phone, and they all work perfectly.

Recently, we visited the theme parks with my dad, who has his own My Disney Experience account but didn’t link his MagicBand to his phone. His MagicBand was connected to him and his account, but it was paired to my phone. All of the MagicBand features worked out just fine. Now that I think about it, my little ones are managed by me, since they don’t have their own account, and their MagicBands are paired to my phone. Their MagicBands also interact with the statues and along with certain shows and entertainment. I believe that pairing it to her phone won't make a huge difference. The most exciting part is having the My Disney Experience app downloaded and managed on her end. So if she is old enough to make her own account, then that would be a great option and addition.

After years of visiting, my husband downloaded the app for the very first time a few weeks ago. He loved being able to participate in the day-to-day planning. Really, though, his contribution was searching for snacks and food options. Which was helpful and gave us a different experience because he found "new to us treats" rather than selecting our usual "go-tos".

Erin, I hope this gives you an idea about all the options you and your daughter have for this visit. Have a magical trip, and if there’s anything else we can do to help, you know where to find us!

    See ya real soon,

    Shantel

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
