Hi there Wendy, welcome to planDisney!
Now sometimes guests choose to purchase rare and limited-edition merchandise from other sources online - especially when they’re especially made for celebrations like the
50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. Some of the rarest finds include
MagicBands, especially since they're required to be unlinked for them to be usable by anyone interested in buying them from someone else.
It may sound a bit silly, but any time any Disney fans have come to me with difficulty setting up their MagicBand+ it has been more often than not a case of ensuring that they’ve been fully charged. (Hopefully when you made your purchase, this came with the charging cable included!) Then, using your
My Disney Experience App you'll want to follow the steps in the app that may require you to update the software itself.
If you're still experiencing difficulty with this, there's
a dedicated phone line with Cast Members who are tasked with addressing MagicBand inquiries or you can visit a Guest Relations location as soon as you arrive here so that they can troubleshoot and walk through the steps with you. (It's also important to note that if this MagicBand has already been previously linked to another person's account however, it is not possible to relink it to someone else so here's hoping you acquired it from a reputable seller and this it hasn't been previously used.)
Hope this helps, Wendy! Come back to planDisney again to let us know how it went and for any other answers or advice ahead of your upcoming Disney adventures!
May your MagicBands be functional and your days full of fun!
Prince
