Hi Christy!
Thanks for stopping by with a great question about MagicBands before your daughter's upcoming trip. I bet she is so excited for the chance to experience Walt Disney World Resort with her high school classmates!
Christy, I'm happy to share that her
older MagicBand should still work at touchpoints around the park. We have a few older MagicBands in our family as well and have used them to tap into the parks, access Lightning Lane entrances, unlock our Disney Resort hotel room, and charge purchases at dining and retail locations. Before she leaves, I'd suggest logging in to her
My Disney Experience account to make sure her MagicBand, as well as any theme park tickets and resort reservations, are all properly linked to her account for a seamless experience when she arrives.
If she'd like to upgrade to a
MagicBand+, she can either
pre-order ahead of her arrival or pick out a fun new design after she arrives. I've accumulated a collection of MagicBands myself over the years that I like to mix and match throughout my trip, depending on the theme park I'm visiting or the outfit I'm wearing. Not only is a MagicBand+ cute, but its enhanced technology interacts with select entertainment experiences at the parks.
Even with a MagicBand, you may also want to help her set up
Disney MagicMobile Service on her device before her visit. This will create a pass to store in her digital wallet, which can be used in many of the same ways as a MagicBand. When my oldest son lost his MagicBand+ during a recent trip, we used his MagicMobile pass rather than purchasing a new band at the park. You can
easily switch between using a MagicBand and a MagicMobile pass throughout your vacation, giving you the flexibility to choose whichever works best for you at any given time!
I hope this information has been helpful, Christy, and that your daughter has a wonderful time on her trip! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!
Cheers,
Kristi
