My daughter is 2 and will not wear a mask what age is required for masks at the Orlando parks?

    Greetings Space Ranger!

Welcome to planDisney, Scott. Star Command is excited to see that a visitor from the outside world has stopped by. I’m Shantel, one of the Space Cadets, and I will be assisting you today.

Just like you, I too have a 2-year old who is eagerly seeking the excitement and Magic of Walt Disney World Resort. I’m not sure if she likes the nights spent away from home, at a Disney Resort Hotel, or the parks more. She bounces between the two and what she wants to do. Currently, she wants to see Jack Skellington in one of the Character Calvacades at Magic Kingdom Park.

While enjoying the Walt Disney World Resort, face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up). Since your daughter is already 2-years old, she will need to wear a face mask when she visits. I’ve got a couple tricks you can try that worked for both my Mouseketeers. First, I let them each pick out a pack of masks they liked from the shopDisney website. Once they arrived, that’s all we talked about! After the conversation became familiar, we started with wearing them around the house and slowly progressed to outings. Trips to our local grocery stores is where we started with having our Mouseketeers try out their new face coverings. Once they mastered those outings, we tried longer outings, like a trip to our local outdoor museum.

The slow transition into wearing a face covering has helped both of them become familiar with the need to wear a face covering while visiting the parks. Keep in mind, you are able to remove your masks while actively eating or drinking as long as you are stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing. There are also Relaxation Stations in each of the theme parks where you can remain at a distance from other Guests and remove your mask for a little break.

I hope this helps your Mouseketeer, Scott. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

    To Infinity & Beyond!
