My daughter will be 8 months old when we go to Disney World in July. Suggestions on how to keep her cool and out of the sun? We will also have our 10 year old boy, so lounging in the shade constantly wont be an option.

    Hi, there!

Tyler, I'm so excited to hear about your upcoming vacation. It's going to be an Incredible Summer at the Walt Disney World Resort! My family will be visiting this July too. We'll be taking our 11-month old daughter along with our 6 and 8-year old sons, so I completely understand your concern! I'm happy to share my best tips for keeping your little princess cool and comfortable in the Orlando heat this summer:

    • Dress that little sweetheart lightly! Think loose cotton and no layers.
    • With a stroller that has an extra large shade, your daughter will be well-shaded from the hot sun. We take our own City Mini stroller to the theme parks and the extra large shade offers fantastic protection. If your personal stroller doesn't have an extra large shade like ours does, I recommend renting a City Mini stroller from an Orlando-based rental company like Magic Strollers (they'll deliver right to your Resort hotel!).
    • Consider taking a battery operated clip-on fan. You can attach it to the stroller so your daughter has a nice, cool breeze under that shade!
    • We pack a Frogg Toggs cooling towel for each of our kids. They're easy to toss into a backpack! Just wet with water, wring out, and enjoy some cooling relief for hours!
    • Be sure to take an afternoon break! Whether that means returning to your Resort hotel for a swim in the pool and a nap in your air-conditioned room, or enjoying an indoor show like Festival of the Lion King, you'll all be glad to escape the afternoon heat.
    • Keep that tiny Mouseketeer (and the rest of you!) well-hydrated. Did you know you can ask for free cups of ice water from Quick-Service dining locations?
    • Most attractions, restaurants, and stores are nicely air-conditioned; avoid those that aren't!

     Thanks for stopping by!
