My daughter has a mermaid tail and was wondering if she would be allowed to use it in a resort pool? I wouldn't let her bring it in the main pool but one of the smaller ones. We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Thanks

Hello, Petra! Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am happy to hear about your daughter’s love for mermaids, as well as to set the record straight on pool rules!

I called to speak with a cast member at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and sadly, mermaid tails or fins of any kind are considered a safety hazard and are not allowed in the pools. Likewise, any item that is secured to a swimmer, such as snorkels, flippers, or vests, are not permitted. If a toddler wear water wings or a puddle jumper, they must be supervised by an adult at all times. One of the reasons behind this policy is that items may pose a risk in case a lifeguard needs to use his services.

While your daughter will not be able to bring her tail, I hope that you have Ariel’s Grotto and Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid on your to-do list. If you have extra time built into your vacation, consider calling the making a mermaid makeover reservation at the Pirate’s League in Magic Kingdom Park. Meant for park-goers ages 3-12, the makeovers will transform guests into luminous mermaid!

There’s plenty of fun to be had by lovers of the sea! ~Lindsey P.
