My daughter and I have MagicBands from a trip to Disney World in 2019. I read Magic Bands came be used at both land and world but is it best to get an update version (system upgrades)?

Hey there and welcome (back) to planDisney, Rebecca. Thanks for dropping by to share your question with us. It won't be long until you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy. So let's make sure you're all set for your visit.

The MagicBand+ is the only type of band that is currently supported at the Disneyland Resort. According to Disney Parks Blog, this version of the band was released on July 27, 2022, so I'm guessing that you and your daughter most likely have older versions of the MagicBand. Unfortunately, an upgrade cannot be made to an older model and a new MagicBand+ must be purchased for use at the Disneyland Resort. The good news is that the MagicBand+ indeed can be used at both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, I just used my MagicBand+ during my recent visit to Walt Disney World Resort. It's also worth noting that there are some differences in functionality between the two resorts.

I love using my MagicBand+ to scan into the theme parks for entry as well as seeing my MagicBand+ interact with select nighttime spectaculars and attractions. I also love that my band is rechargeable. If you decide to purchase one, the charging chord is in the box behind your band, so make sure to remove it before you throw away the packaging. If you plan to use Disney Genie+ Service during your visit, you can also use your MagicBand+ to easily scan into the Lightning Lane entrances.

Rebecca, I hope this is helpful as you are getting ready for your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth. Please come back to visit us with any other questions you might be curious about. Here's wishing you a most magical visit!

    Adventure is out there!
