Bright Suns, Susan,
Welcome back to planDisney! We are honored that you continue to visit us here in our happy little place. We love being a tiny part of the magic of planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort!
As a Star Wars fan and fellow Jedi, I love that your 6 year old has fallen in love with BB-8! My four-year-old got to meet him last year and spent the entire day pretending to be a droid afterward. As much as I am in love with the gorgeous
The Walt Disney Studios Lot area at
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I was also a little saddened about the closing of the Star Wars: Launch Bay. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet heard whether BB-8 will make his way to
Galaxy’s Edge, and he hasn't been spotted out and about. Since you aren’t visiting until November, that can totally change, but for now I haven’t heard of any plans.
As the mom of a toddler, Susan, I know how tricky it can be to prepare your child for the possibility that they won't see a specific character (especially when they have their heart set on meeting one). One tip I use frequently, even when I’m not at Walt Disney World Resort, is to check the
My Disney Experience mobile app. Within the app, you can see what characters are out and about at any given time. While character availability does change, it can help you get a sense of what to expect. To do this, open your mobile app and select the map icon (on my phone, it is the second choice on the bottom of the screen). Then, on the top of the screen, select “Characters” (it should be the fifth icon). After you click that, you will see the map show little markers with Mickey’s profile on them to indicate a character location. Rather than clicking each one individually, click the small box labeled “Show List” in the bottom-right corner. That list will include all the characters currently available for the day. If you happen to see BB-8, you can click him and see location and scheduled appearances. I hope this was helpful, Susan, and more importantly that our favorite droid finds his way back to us all soon.
May the Force be With You and Your Padawan!
‘Til the Spires,
Ashley F.
