Hi, My daughter would love to do the pressed penny souvenirs at WDW but unfortunately we no longer have pennies here in Canada and we do not live near the USA. Is there a forum or board where I might meet someone who would be willing to send some to me?

    Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Pressed pennies are such delightful souvenirs: they’re fun to make, there are many unique designs to be found all around the parks and resorts, and they’re inexpensive.

On our visit last month, we had just stepped off Disney’s Magical Express when my son spotted the pressed penny machine in our resort's lobby. He was absolutely insistent that he HAD to start his vacation with a pressed penny, and I was juggling sweatshirts and backpacks and just could not find any change. Luckily, this particular machine took credit cards (most don’t), so we were all set. With future pressed penny needs in mind, we marched straight to the resort’s gift shop, where we were able to purchase a couple of rolls of quarters and pennies.

Michelle, if you’ll need to exchange Canadian cash for pennies and quarters, you’ll be able to do so at the Lobby Concierge at your Disney Resort hotel or at any Guest Relations window. If you’ll have American cash, you can visit those locations or any merchandise location.

I think you'll find this map of pressed coin machines helpful in your quest. Most of the coin press machines I’ve encountered will press a penny for 51 cents total – two quarters and a penny. Select machines do accept credit cards, and some will press a quarter for $1.25 in the form of five quarters. You can find cute keepsake books for storing your pressed coins in the resort gift shops; another idea is to purchase a cute Walt Disney World change purse for the souvenir coins, and store the “to be pressed” coins inside in a small baggie or mini M&M’s tube. I hope you make PENNY (see what I did there?) happy memories hunting for these bright and shiny souvenirs!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
