My daughter has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is not immobile. However, she has a great deal of pain with a lot of standing and walking. Also, excessive heat is not good for her. Would it be allowable for her to get the disability pass?

    chEARs Lori!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As one of the two resident doctors on the Panel, I just had to grab your question! Rest assured, Disney wants to provide the most magical of experiences for all of its Guests, including those with special needs.

I understand how much you want to make your visit magical for your daughter, and I think your first stop should be Guest Services, where you can see if the Disability Access Service (DAS) would work for her. DAS allows your family to minimize your wait time at attractions, by returning at a designated time, which I think would be super helpful in keeping your daughter comfortable in the Parks. My dEAR friend Samantha's son has autism, and she recently did an excellent job explaining the workings of the service. You can find her explanation here.

Your daughter is also more than welcome to bring any mobility aid that she prefers. I know you said she is mobile, but you might want to consider a wheelchair rental as Disney days can be quite long. Wheelchairs can be rented for the day, or you can get one from one of Disney's Featured Providers. I've heard nothing but good things about the service at Buena Vista Scooter Rentals.

Please take advantage of FastPass+! This fantastic service allows you to skip the standby line at the attractions, and therefore give her a bit of rest. Also, if she needs relief from the heat or any medical attention, there are First Aid Centers in each of the Theme Parks and Water Parks.

Lori, if you or your daughter have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to come back. I hope this trip is just what the doctor ordered!
