Hey there, Ami! Welcome to planDisney—you've come to the right place for a little pixie dust on your planning! How exciting that your daughter is headed to the Disneyland Resort on a field trip!
You've got a great question about Disneyland's
Disability Access Service (DAS), and I'm thrilled to help you navigate it. Think of DAS as a special key that unlocks a more comfortable experience for Guests who find waiting in traditional lines a bit of a challenge, especially those with developmental disabilities. Instead of waiting in the standby queue, DAS lets Guests request attraction return times and explore other areas of the park while waiting for their turn to experience the attractions.
Registering for DAS involves a friendly discussion with a Cast Member, and there are two easy ways to do this. The conversation can be held via
live video chat through the Disneyland website, or at an
Accessibility Services kiosk located in the Esplanade between parks. No matter which path you choose, your daughter will need to be present for the conversation.
Now, Ami, before registering for Disability Access Service, you must also first sign into your Disney account and link your daughter’s park ticket. I understand that this is where the adventure gets a little tricky since you don’t yet have access to it. My first recommendation is to reach out to the department that is managing field trip tickets at your daughter’s school. It’s possible that they already have the tickets in-hand but have not yet distributed them to the students. In this case, they may be able to share her ticket information with you so you can link it to your account and continue the DAS registration process.
If you're joining in the field trip fun, you can also visit the Accessibility Services kiosk outside the main gates with your daughter on the big day. Since she's in middle school, she'll need a parent or guardian to accompany her for this step.
If those options don't quite fit, don't you worry! There's always another path to the magic. I highly recommend reaching out to the email address listed at the bottom of the
DAS page. A Cast Member there will be your guide, ready to answer your questions and offer personalized advice. Remember, you can check eligibility for your daughter up to 60 days in advance, so you still have plenty of time to get things squared away. I’d recommend reaching out early to get your questions answered before the 60-day window opens.
You also mentioned that your daughter doesn’t have her own cell phone—and that’s no problem at all! While the mobile app is a handy tool for managing DAS return times, it's not the only way! Your daughter can also visit any
Guest Relations or
Accessibility Services location to request return times. Before your daughter sets off on her adventure, I also recommend taking a peek at the "Accessibility Planning Guide & Recommendations" and "Sensory Experience Details" links on the DAS page. They're packed with helpful tips to make her visit even more magical!
Ami, I hope this helps you and your daughter prepare for a truly wonderful Disneyland Resort field trip! If any other questions pop up, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help make sure she enjoys a magical day!
