Hi Melissa,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question. Your daughter must be so excited to be visiting Walt Disney World Resort tomorrow - sounds like an awesome field trip!
One of the reasons why I love
MagicBands so much because of how they seamlessly integrate every part of my visit to Walt Disney World Resort into one functional (and cute!) bracelet. I actually miss being able to use them for everything when I get home…
That being said, a common misconception is that you can link a credit card directly to a MagicBand or to
My Disney Experience in order to pay for purchases at the Disney Parks. The way that the system actually works is that your MagicBand can be used to charge purchases to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel account, which is then charged to the credit card that you’ve assigned to that account.
What this means is, if your daughter isn’t staying in a
Walt Disney World Resort hotel during her upcoming visit, you won’t be able to “link” a credit card to her MagicBand in order to allow her to pay for any purchases she may choose to make.
What I would recommend instead: If your daughter has a smartphone, you can actually purchase a
Disney Gift Card eGift from
shopDisney. She can then use that display that card on her phone and use it, much like a regular plastic
Disney Gift Card, at most merchandise and dining locations at Walt Disney World Resort.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
