My daughter and I are going on our first cruise ever on the magic this December. For the bounce back offer can the discount go towards taking the whole family the next time or just a discount for me and my daughter?

    Hiya, Laura!

Oh boy! It sounds like you not only have an amazing Disney cruise coming up, but you likely have a whole lifetime of magic ahead of you. As big Disneyland Resort fans, my family and I felt excited about our first Disney cruise. But we didn't think we were the type of people who would go cruising a lot. So we expected it would be our first and last cruise. Little did we know, we would fall in love with sailing "Where Magic Meets the Sea." I really wish we had known about booking a future cruise while we were onboard the Disney Wonder on that first cruise. That would have helped us jumpstart our cruising tradition even faster. We've tried really hard to make up for it since then!

I love the savings that the Disney Cruise Line onboard offer gives us. And I like how we can enjoy those savings and still get to choose when we sail (subject to a few blockout dates) and pick from most available staterooms. When you book a placeholder cruise through the onboard offer, you may reserve one stateroom per household. If your party is in more than one stateroom during the cruise when you use the onboard offer to book a placeholder cruise, you may choose to book up to two staterooms to later convert to confirmed reservations on a single future sailing.

As long as at least one of the Guests staying in the stateroom during the cruise when the placeholder is reserved also stays in the stateroom of the future cruise reservation converted from the placeholder, you'll be eligible for those savings! In that sort of situation, it's OK to add more passengers to the stateroom on the future cruise up to the capacity of the selected stateroom. So, yes, even if some of your family isn't able to go with you on your upcoming cruise, you may be able to book some phenomenal savings for their opportunity to join you on a later cruise converted from your placeholder.

I hope you have a wonderful time on the Disney Magic, Laura. The Magic is one of my favorite ships of the Disney Cruise Line. I hope you enjoy every minute of it. If you have a spare moment between all of the fun activities available, I recommend relaxing in the Soul Cat Lounge enjoying some great music, and maybe purchasing an order of delicious zeppoles.

    Have a magical time, Laura!
