My daughter who is 6 has an expiring passportend of March and we go to a cruise from San Diego to Cabos San Lucas on April 12-16, 2023. Would she need a valid passport or can I just take her birthday certificate? Is a copy of her birth certificate allowed

    Ahoy, Vivian! Welcome to planDisney!

Can you believe it? Your Disney Cruise Line vacation on the beautiful Disney Wonder is just a month away! I’m glad you thought to cruise our way before your adventure begins. Having the proper documentation is important to ensure your transition from land to sea goes smoothly. Let’s look together to make sure your documents are shipshape for online check-in and check-in at the port.

If you depart from a U.S. port and return to the same U.S. port, passports are not required for U.S. citizens. You only need an original or official copy of your state-issued birth certificate. Adults are also required to show a government-issued photo ID. You can mix citizenship documentation. For example, you can use a passport for identification and your daughter her birth certificate.

I hope this is a relief because in just a few days – 30 days before your sailing – you can begin the online check-in process for your cruise! Woo hoo! Gather up everyone’s citizenship identification and take a picture. You’ll also need an individual color photo of each Guest taken against a neutral background. I like to keep all the images in a folder on my computer to make them easier to find. Once online check-in is complete, tuck your citizenship documents in your carry-on luggage because you’ll have to show them again at the port.

Your daughter will have such an amazing time exploring the kids’ clubs. I suggest attending Open House hours on the first day to meet the counselors and see the incredible spaces. They do an excellent job helping even the most nervous sailor feel welcome. You can read all about the daily activities on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Once connected to the ship’s wi-fi, the app becomes your guide to all the fun.

If there is anything else we can help you with before sailing, please return to planDisney and ask. My pals and I are always happy to help Guests plan fantastic vacations at sea.

    Bon Voyage,
    Tracie
