Hello, Vanessa!
Welcome back to
planDisney - we're so glad you're
part of our world! Thank you for bringing us your question about your daughter's souvenir from your recent
Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It's wonderful to bring
gadgets and gizmos home with you from a special getaway. I hope your daughter's pearl will always remind her of the magical memories you made together on your recent visit!
Vanessa, I'm a huge fan of Akoya Pearls in the Japan pavilion at
EPCOT, myself. (In fact, I've got
whozits and whatzits galore!) The pick-a-pearl offering is truly a hidden gem and my favorite
shopping experience in all of the Walt Disney World Resort. When I've participated in the pick-a-pearl experience, I've always opted to take the loose pearl home with me, too. However, Guests may choose to have their pearl set in a piece of fine jewelry at the Mitsukoshi Department Store immediately after their selection experience. While the skilled Cast Members at Akoya Pearls can drill a hole in your pearl during your visit, they cannot guarantee the quality or integrity of the pearl once it has left their possession. Therefore, any post-purchase modifications to your daughter's pearl must be made at your own discretion.
If your daughter isn't comfortable with modifying her keepsake, you could also consider purchasing a pearl cage to wear on a chain. (This is how I've chosen to wear all of my treasures from Akoya Pearls!) Better yet, why not make a tradition of the pick-a-pearl experience during every Walt Disney World Resort vacation? Then, her collection will never be complete! She'll be able to collect different pearls, in different jewelry settings, to commemorate each unique vacation experience.
Vanessa, I hope you and your family had a
fin-tastic time at the Walt Disney World Resort
theme parks. The only thing better than visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth is sharing it with the ones you love! If you have any additional questions, feel free to swim on back here to planDisney again anytime. We're always happy to
sea you!
Life is de bubbles,
Lauren
