Hi there, Kathy! Thanks for sending in another great question to planDisney! I'm always excited to help a fellow Pennsylvanian!
As a mom of three teenage boys, chaperones often come to me for advice when planning high school-sponsored trips. For many kids, going on a vacation without their parents is a rite of passage, and Walt Disney World Resort offers a safe environment, which puts a worrying mom's mind at ease!
Providing your daughter with Disney Gift Cards for her spending money is a good idea. Unfortunately, online reloading options are not available; it can only be done in person. However, you can purchase a
Disney Gift Card eGift at shopDisney.com to send it to any valid email address for expedited delivery (this is the easiest option). I like digital Disney Gift Cards because your teen can add them to her Apple Wallet or Google Pay for safekeeping and convenience.
If you register your gift cards on
DisneyGiftCard.com (click on the My Cards tab), you can transfer balances between them using the 16-digit account number. This can be another way to manage spending on a teen's card: keep a parent card with a larger balance and refill your child's card as needed. For physical cards, I recommend typing the number into a note on her phone, so she can paste it into her
My Disney Experience app for purchases such as
Genie+ and
Mobile Orders. As an early holiday gift, you can get her a cute crossbody bag or
Loungefly backpack she can use in the parks and load it up with sunscreen, lip balm, pain reliever, and a couple of ponchos.
I hope your daughter has the best time making magical memories, Kathy!
