My daughter is going to Disney on her own next month with her own account and wants to use her magicband. Her magicband is currently on my account. Is there a way I could deactivate it and reactivate it to her account without merging the two accounts?

    Hi Allyson, welcome to planDisney!

Congrats on raising a daughter that is prepared to fly solo at Walt Disney World Resort. As you prepare for this mother-daughter milestone, I'm sending you the strength of Sarabi, the patience of Queen Elinor, and the wisdom of Mrs. Potts.

Right now, let's channel the resourcefulness of Helen Parr (aka Elastigirl) as we figure out how to make your daughter's MagicBand accessible to her on her trip. It sounds like your daughter's MagicBand is linked to a My Disney Experience account profile managed by your account. Please confirm this by taking a look at the MagicBands and Cards page of your My Disney Experience account. When you click on her name, does her MagicBand appear as "Active?" Assuming that's the case, it's important to know MagicBands cannot be unlinked or reassigned. Since you are simply wanting to keep her MagicBand linked to the same person, follow these steps to merge your daughter's account profile with the My Disney Experience account she created for herself:

    1. Click "Update" next to your daughter's name as it appears on your "My Family & Friends List."
    2. Click "Share Planning with [daughter's name,]" which is found to the right of "Update [daughter's name]'s Information."
    3. Enter the email address associated with your daughter's My Disney Experience account and click "Continue."
    4. Ask your daughter to accept the email invitation to connect.

Once your daughter accepts the invitation to connect, any of her vacation entitlements housed in your account (including her MagicBand) will automagically transfer to her account. Your My Disney Experience account will remain intact and you and your daughter will remain connected as Family & Friends, which means you can still view and make plans for each other.

Let me assure you this merging of accounts is the natural evolution of all families' Disney experience, Allyson. As an added benefit, this carousel of progress now allows your daughter to book Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations, place mobile food and beverage orders, and more for you!

Please reach out when you're ready to start planning your next mother-daughter adventure!

    Plan magic; planDisney.
