Welcome to planDisney, Sarah! A trip to Walt Disney World is the absolute best way to start the New Year. I love being there with the holiday decorations still up and all of the energy you will experience with the runDisney Marathon Weekend!
I am so glad you have learned about runDisney, and I love you wanting to run with your daughter. The events are incredibly magical with runners who are dashing through Disney in creative and fun costumes. Unfortunately, the race is currently at capacity. You can check the
runDisney events calendar to see the dates of the upcoming race season. Each year, runDisney has Wine & Dine Weekend in the Fall; Marathon Weekend in January; Princess Weekend in February and Springtime Surprise in April. The calendar also tells you when registration opens so you can secure your spot for upcoming races.
There is still so much magic for you to enjoy on your vacation. On Thursday, Magic Kingdom will have the
Festival of Fantasy Parade and
Happily Ever After (my favorite fireworks). In EPCOT, you can see the new fireworks spectacular
Luminous The Symphony of Us; and
Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios.
If you are still at Walt Disney World Resort on Sunday, you can also enjoy the extra "parade" of marathoners making their way through Animal Kingdom and EPCOT as they near the end of their 26.2 miles. Being one of them, I can say we will appreciate the cheers of park-goers as we are digging deep those last miles.
I know you are going to have a wonderful time at the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I hope to see you and your daughter at a runDisney event! If you have any other questions, please come back to
planDisney.
Cheers,
Jana
