My Daughter and I are going on a Disney Cruise December 17th. We are so excited but am I going to be the odd man out being a single parent on the cruise?

    Ahoy, Shaina!

No way are you going to be the "odd man out"...in fact, you are going to meet and make new friends from all over the world! What I love about Disney Cruise Line is they've taken almost every segment of life and created specific activities and entertainment for those groups -- together and separately.  Have fun with your daughter and enjoy spending time with her, but make sure you make time for yourself, too.

When you arrive in your stateroom, take a moment to study your Personal Navigator -- the daily newsletter for all events, activities, entertainment, dining and recreation on the ship.  You'll find events for you as a single parent and for your daughter for her age group. You'll find choices you'll enjoy together and alone, and you won't believe how many other single parents you'll bump into aboard.

My best advice is to get involved and don't be afraid to introduce yourself to other guests and to the cast and crew. When your daughter is having fun on her own, explore the ship and all its amenities...especially the adult-only areas such as the spa, the Quiet Cove pool, Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay and dining at Palo or Remy (Disney Dream). Check out the night life at the bars, lounges and adult clubs, or grab a book and pick a lounge chair as you gaze at the gorgeous vistas.

Wow, you're making me want to take a cruise by myself! I do hope this gives you an idea of all the fun you'll both have on a Disney cruise and makes you even more excited about your voyage in December. Let me know how it goes! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation.

    Bon voyage!
