To all who come to planDisney, welcome. Jonathan, we're so glad you're here to share this question with us. How wonderful to hear that you'd like to plan a visit to say farewell to Monstropolis, and what a wonderful memory that will be for you and your daughter.
As Walt said, "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." This is one of the countless things that I love about the Disneyland Resort; I never have the same visit twice and there's always something new to explore or discover. While it's always exciting to see the parks continue to grow and change, it can also be sad when you have to say goodbye to beloved attractions and all of the memories that were made.
We don't quite know exactly when this attraction will close, only that it will be sometime in early 2026. I recommend keeping an eye on
Disney Parks Blog as well as following
@disneyland and
@disneyparks on Instagram for any news and updates. Another place to watch is the
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! page of the Disneyland website for any updates. You can see operating times here, and right now, it looks like there are still posted operating times through March 1st (subject to change). Thinking back, the announcement for the Red Car Trolley closure was shared about two months before its last day of operation. Let's hope we get the same, if not more, lead time for the Monsters, Inc. ride to help with your planning.
When you're ready to say your goodbyes to Mike, Sulley and Boo, a great tip is that there is a
Buddy Pass option (subject to availability) for this attraction that works similarly to Single Rider queues. It works for up to two riders, which is perfect for you and your daughter. I used it just last week and was on the Laugh Floor in no time. When it comes to this attraction closing, I'd just rather sing, "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!" But alas, I'll be thankful for all the joyful memories and we'll keep moving forward.
One last thought, another thing that I love about Disney is how
inclusive and accessible they make the parks for everyone. My husband is visually impaired and we often take advantage of the services available (like the Disney Handheld Device that features Audio Description) to enhance his visits to the parks. I recommend exploring this area of the website to see if any of the services could be helpful.
Jonathan, while this is probably not the answer you were expecting, I hope the information is still helpful. Please come back to visit us with any other questions you might have. I'll be wishing on an evening star that we hear some news soon. For now, Kitty has to go.
