My daughter is competing in the Cheerleading Worlds at the end of April at the Wide World of Sports Complex. Which parks or resorts are closest to that location for us to eat dinner? How far away is Downtown Disney from there?

    Hi Lisa!

The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has a restaurant, ESPN's Wide World of Sports Grill.

If you are using WDW Transportation, you'll need to take a bus to the Caribbean Beach Resort and transfer to a Downtown Disney bus. Allow 30 minutes for travel. If you drive, it's about six miles but allow 15 minutes of travel time. Downtown Disney will have your choice of table service restaurants and quick service locations as well. I highly recommend Earl of Sandwich and the Wolfgang Puck Express for fast food that is absolutely delicious!

A nice location for dinner would be the Animal Kingdom Lodge which is less than 3 miles away.

Note that table service restaurants on Walt Disney World property almost always require Advance Dining Reservations. These can be made by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Going into a park for dinner would take additional time and require park admission. The nearby Animal Kingdom park does have a Rainforest Cafe with an exterior entrance therefore you could access the restaurant without actually going into the park.

Best wishes to your daughter at the Cheerleading competition! Wide World of Sports is a beautiful complex!!
