Hi Scott,
Welcome back to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us another question! I’m so excited that your daughter is going to be able to visit Walt Disney World Resort with her orchestra group – I hope that she and her bandmates will get to perform during their visit. There’s truly nothing quite like performing on a Disney stage!
As for whether she can use an older
MagicBand during her trip, the answer depends on how old it is. Typically, MagicBand batteries only last for about 2 years. That said, I’ve had some luck using older bands on trips, so there’s a chance it may still work, at least for entering a Theme Park and using any
Lightning Lane entrances that she may have. The hiccup is typically with things such as “on ride”
Disney PhotoPass pictures – those really need a fully working MagicBand in order to get captured correctly.
A really good way to make sure that she can still use her MagicBand during her trip is to go into the “
My MagicBands and Cards” section of your
My Disney Experience account. There, click on your daughter’s profile and you should be able to see a list of both active and inactive MagicBands and cards associated with her account. Make sure that her MagicBand is listed and still reads as “active.” If you see it in the list, then she should be able to use it to enter a park during her band’s upcoming visit. If it isn’t listed, you can try re-linking it by entering the code that you’ll find on the back of the bracelet. If you still can’t link it to her profile, then that unfortunately means that she won’t be able to use it during her trip.
As always, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
