My daughter and I just booked a last minute trip to Disney World for the first week of June. We want to purchase character themed Magic Bands ahead of time. Do we still need the band the resort would normally give us? Thank you!

    Hi Christina!

Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We're all very excited that you're planning a return visit to Walt Disney World Resort, and so soon! Have you already made your list of must-try snacks?

I'm excited that you and your daughter have found themed MagicBands that fit your own personality and character. The 2.0 edition of MagicBands have an interchangeable inner puck so on future visits you can still use your themed outer band part in combination with any new center puck you receive. The pucks can even be removed completely and put into a keychain counterpart called a MagicKeeper.

You are correct that by purchasing a retail MagicBand that you don't technically need the solid color MagicBand that is included in your Disney Resort Hotel room reservation. You can certainly bring the included bands along to make the check-in process a bit easier, or you could leave them at home altogether. However, the complimentary bands arrive already connected to their owner's My Disney Experience Profile, so technically you could mix and match any additional bands you have to your various Disney outfits during your vacation. I actually just returned from Walt Disney World Resort last week where I brought five bands along for our weeks worth of fun.

I hope this helped, Christina, and We'll See You Real Soon!
