Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Carrie. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to see you'll be traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort next week! You must be counting down the days with excitement.
I'm so sorry to hear your daughter has broken her arm. As Winnie the Pooh would say, "Oh, bother!" While visiting the theme parks with a bent-arm cast is certainly not ideal, I'm sure she'll experience lots of pixie-dusted adventures during your stay.
Thankfully,
most attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort are family-friendly, meaning that they're appropriate for Guests of all ages. These attractions are typically mild in terms of thrill, so you can enjoy them without restraints or, at most, a simple lap bar. Your daughter should be completely comfortable riding these attractions with her bent-arm cast. Attractions that are more thrilling, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Slinky Dog Dash feature lap bars, but with lots of curves and drops, your daughter's arm may be jostled uncomfortably. Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith has over-the-shoulder restraints, which I would imagine would be bothersome with any type of arm cast. In general, I would use caution with any attraction that features a safety warning. Before your arrival, take some time to explore the
Attractions list on the Walt Disney World Resort website. Using the filtering options, you and your daughter, with the advice of your doctor, can review attractions she can comfortably experience ahead of your visit.
To keep your daughter's cast dry, I recommend taking along a waterproof covering in case of rain or if she hops on a
you-may-get-wet attraction. You may also want to consider packing a sling. Her bent-arm cast will likely feel very heavy as you explore the theme parks!
I hope this was helpful, Carrie. I'm wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Ashley
