    My daughter and I are beginning runners in the Princess Half Marathon in Feb, dad is a gold ChEAR squad. If we stay off property how can we get to the run? We will have a rental car and annual park pass. I heard the road to EPCOT closes early.Thank you

    Hi Christine!

    I think the Princess Half Marathon will be the perfect race for you and your daughter!  It was my first half marathon back in 2009, and I loved it so much that I just keep going back for more:)

    Your best bet will be to arrange for a cab to take you guys to the starting area in the Epcot parking lot.  There will be some road closures that morning, so a normal GPS route may not get you there.  You will have instructions with road closures in the Final Race Instructions booklet.  You will find that booklet on the Princess Half Marathon website closer to race day , and they will also have it printed out for you at the packet pick-up and expo.

    My biggest advice to you is to leave REALLY EARLY.  I would leave by 3 a.m.  I know this is very early, but the traffic starts picking up heavily around 3:30 a.m. and you don't want to get stuck in it before your first big race.  Even when I stay on property and take the runDisney buses, I like to be on the first one leaving my resort.  Traffic really does come to a standstill and I don't want that adding to my nerves. 

    I have stayed off property before and taken a cab on race mornings.  As long as you have the cab arranged in advance, let the driver know about all road closures, and leave super early, then you will be fine!
