My daughter is 4 & Autistic. I can sometimes get her to wear a mask, but if she takes it off, are we going to have to leave the park? Does she have to wear it when we are outside in the park? Are there accommodations for her?

    Hiya Kimberly,

Welcome to planDisney! We are so happy that you are here and are planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort next month. I hope you and your Mouseketeer enjoy experiencing the wonder and excitement of the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Just a tip, if the excitement ever becomes too overwhelming for your little one, take advantage of the break areas found throughout the Theme Parks.

As the daughter of the special education teacher, I can 100% understand your predicament. Wearing a mask for the duration of your Theme Park day can be challenging for Guests of all ages. Have you heard that Walt Disney World Resort has made some changes to their face covering policy effective earlier last month?!

-Face coverings are now optional for Guests outdoors regardless of vaccination status (you are not required to show proof of vaccination at this time) or age.
-Indoors, masks are optional if you are fully vaccinated but expected for unvaccinated guests.
-The only place where face coverings are required by all Guests regardless of vaccination status is on select enclosed Walt Disney World Transportation such as buses, the Disney Skyliner, and the monorails.

I hope you have the most magical time at the Most Magical Place on Earth! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you prepare for your trip.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
