Hi there, Yolanda!
As a parent of children with Autism, I too recognize the challenges that come with that. That’s why I’m so grateful for the accommodations the Disneyland Resort offers to
Guests with disabilities, including
Guests with cognitive disabilities.
I strongly recommend reviewing the tips and information included in the Disneyland Resort
resource guide for Guests with cognitive disabilities. The guide includes information that is exactly the type of details that our children appreciate before experiencing something new. Rather than feeling overwhelmed going into the experience, they are empowered with the knowledge and tools that help them overcome the anxiousness they may naturally feel.
Tony’s Tip: It doesn’t hurt to have a
favorite snack and water handy too! Sometimes, it’s amazing what can be handled by taking care of hunger and thirst, right?
Some Guests may benefit from enrollment in the
Disability Access Service (DAS). This service is available to Guests who are unable to tolerate a typical attraction queue. To
register for DAS, Guests may visit one of the several
Guest Relations locations in the theme parks. The Guest requiring accommodations and a guardian, if applicable, meet briefly for an interview with a Cast Member who will determine eligibility for the DAS service. If the service is deemed appropriate for the Guest, the Cast Member will add the DAS entitlement to the theme park admission for that Guest. Then, the
Disneyland mobile app may be used to view and manage return times for one attraction at a time. Whether or not a Guest is eligible for DAS, Guest Relations Cast Members may also highlight other services and accommodations available.
I hope you and your daughter have a magical time, Yolanda!
