I have a daughter with ASD and we've requested 2 connecting rooms at the Contemporary. She won't sleep in a room with others. Our travel agent placed a request but, how do I go about making sure we can secure connecting rooms?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Kelly. You are going to love staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort! The Resort is one of my family's favorites because of its location. It is a quick walk to Magic Kingdom Park, and the Monorail runs through the Resort, easily connecting you to EPCOT!

Walt Disney World is committed to ALL of its Guests having a magical experience, including those with special needs. Since your travel agent has already placed a request on your reservation, I would suggest you call Hotel Reservations. You can explain your situation and ask to be connected to the Resort. When you discuss your rooms, I would recommend using the word "connecting." If you use the word "adjoining," your rooms will probably be next to each other, but not have an internal connecting door. Once you arrive, have a face-to-face at the Front Desk to remind them of your unique needs. It also helps to be flexible with your room ready time. They might need a bit of extra pixie dust to move things around! I'm sure the Cast Members at the hotel will bend over backward to honor your request, but ultimately a request is not guaranteed.

Kelly, one last tip - when you head to the Parks, stop by Guest Services, where you can see if the Disability Access Service (DAS) would be helpful for your daughter. DAS allows your family to minimize your wait time at attractions (including Character Greetings), by returning at a designated time. My dEAR friend Samantha's son has autism, and she recently did an excellent job explaining the workings of the service. You can find her explanation here.
