Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. There is truly nothing like waking up to a savanna view!
I do want to start by gently clarifying that we here at planDisney are not Travel Agents or Cast Members, which means we don't have access to real-time availability, inventory, or room rates. I wish I could peek behind the curtain for you, but we simply don't have the ability to check specific dates or quote pricing.
That being said, you absolutely can request connecting rooms. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge does offer connecting accommodations in certain areas of the Resort, including savanna view sections. However, connecting rooms are never guaranteed in advance. They are always based on availability at the time of check-in and ultimately fall under the discretion of the Cast Member assigning rooms that day.
If you'd like to give yourselves the very best chance, my recommendation would be to
call the Walt Disney World Resort help center as soon as possible. A Cast Member can look at availability for July 1 through July 5, provide you with the current rate for a 2-queen room, and add a request for connecting rooms to both reservations. The earlier that note is attached, the better.
When you arrive, I also suggest politely reminding the Front Desk that you're hoping to be connected. While nothing can ever be promised, I've found that Cast Members truly do their best to accommodate families traveling together.
