My daughter has an allergy to shrimp and we have a reservation for Teppan Edo. The kids love the theatrics of hibachi but I realize the potential allergy issue. Is it possible for my daughter's food to be cooked in the kitchen, away from shrimp?

Elizabeth, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We are delighted to answer your question regarding your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation!

Don’t you just love dining at Epcot!? There are so many great options! While I’ve not had the opportunity to eat at Teppan Edo, Disney is very cognizant of food allergies. In fact, during a recent trip to Walt Disney World we had a member from our party who was allergic to strawberries and the chef did a thorough walkthrough with this individual to cater to her needs.

While Disney takes steps to prevent cross-contact, they do not have separate allergy-friendly kitchens and are unable to guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens. However, depending on your daughters severity, my personal recommendation is to go ahead and keep your reservations and let the chef know about any and all allergies prior to ordering. You can also make these requests online using your My Disney Experience account. Otherwise, enjoy the chefs as they slice, dice and flip your meal.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. Have a magical day!
