Hi, Jaime! Welcome to planDisney.
Walt Disney World doesn't have an official "first day of summer," but Guests often notice the seasonal shift as the parks ease out of spring and into warmer-weather fun (actually, it's more like the weather goes from hot to hotter). Crowd levels, operating hours, and entertainment all begin to reflect a summer rhythm around the same time each year. Knowing that window can really help with planning expectations (especially if you want to
meet Bluey and Bingo or experience the new
Soarin’ Across America!)
In general,
summer at Walt Disney World is considered to run from around Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. That's when you'll typically see higher temperatures, longer park hours, and an increase in summer crowds as schools let out (although August can often be lower crowd levels due to the intense heat). Many summer-style offerings, like extended nighttime hours and seasonal snacks, start appearing in late May and continue through early September.
If you're traveling during this summer window, plan your park days early in the morning or later in the evening, and build in a mid-day break. Pool time, a resort rest, a browse around the shops, or an indoor show can make a huge difference in keeping everyone comfortable and happy during those roasting Florida summer afternoons. Did I mention Florida is hot in the summer?
Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Jaime.
