Hi Acacia!
Welcome to planDisney! I'm Kristen, your planEAR for this great
Disneyland Resort nighttime spectaculars question.
One of the things I love most about Disneyland's history is that Uncle Walt was not only a dreamer, he was also a very smart businessman. He knew that having nighttime entertainment would keep Guests in the park much later than if there was nothing to look forward to at the end of the Disney day. And luckily for us, there have been decades and whole generations of Imagineers dreaming up these fantastic glow shows and fireworks fun. So much so that Disney Parks actually win awards for these stunning performances.
Typically speaking, fireworks are only offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, unless there is a special week-day after hours event, or it's
the Holidays or summer season. And your question actually has an interesting answer because Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are
just now bringing back their pre-pandemic after dark performances. If you look at the
5-day Calendar, which is released 30 days in advance of each day and lists all of the scheduled entertainment offerings for the future Disney day, you're going to have quite a few options. On the two weekends you asked about,
Disneyland Park will host the beloved show from Disneyland's 60th Anniversary "
Disneyland Forever." During the week
days (Monday - Thursday) at Disneyland Park, there is a show that, while it lacks fireworks, does include amazing projections, and a fantastic soundtrack.
Mickey's Mix Magic is one of my favorites and you definitely want to make a plan to see it. Over at
Disney California Adventure Park, the fan-favorite
World of Color returns on April 22 after not just the pandemic closure, but also a very lengthy refurbishment prior to the world shutting down. This show is
scheduled for a nightly performance with two shows on the weekends. And we haven't even scratched the surface, Acacia, of my absolute favorite nighttime show, with its thousands of sparkling lights and electro-syntho-magnetic musical sounds,
Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade! This parade has crisscrossed the country and was even shipped to Disney's parks overseas, delighting fans with its nostalgic plunky tune and illuminating costumes. And now it's back in Walt's Original Theme Park to celebrate its 50th Anniversary! At the current time, it looks like it's scheduled for two performances a night starting on April 22. Pro Tip: If you time your evening just right, you should be able to catch both Disneyland Park nighttime shows from the same viewing spot!
