Hi Baily!
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending this Disneyland Resort ticket planning question to us hEAR!
It seems like all of Southern California and perhaps most of the West Coast had the same idea this holiday weekend - to head off to The Happiest Place on Earth! I am so sorry to say, Baily, that at this time the in-person ticket sales booths in The Esplanade between
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park use the same system ticket sales system that you see online. I personally hope that this changes as more and more pandemic
health and safety reopening procedures are revised as some of the reopening measures put into place (ex: reduced capacity) are paused or dropped completely. However, that doesn't help right now.
I will say that both the
Ticket Availability and the
Park Pass Reservation system are fluid, meaning if a Guest with an existing ticket or Park Pass Reservation for a date this weekend changes their visit to another date, their spot for the date dropped will become open for someone else to buy and or book *online. (*This only works for online ticket sales, not in-person ticket sales.) So it's possible that the
theme park ticket availability calendar or the
park pass reservation availability calendar you saw yesterday, or even 10 minutes ago, will be different if you try again right now, or in another 10 minutes, or even later today. This might be helpful if you are only looking to purchase a few tickets, but will be harder if your party is larger than three or four people. Another tip is that the ticket availability might remain the same, which could be none or just for one park, but there are suddenly many park pass reservations open for booking. You might not be able to purchase a ticket from Disney, but, if you could find and purchase a Disney Theme Park Admission Ticket elsewhere, like from an online travel planner or a grocery store in your *hometown then you technically could add the tickets purchased from the third-party location to your
My Disneyland Account or
Disneyland Mobile App and use those to try for park pass reservations. (*When we lived in SoCal, the Targets in our area sold Disneyland Theme Park Ticket gift cards next to traditional monetary Disney Gift Cards in that 'gift card mall' endcap.) While it's not a guarantee, it's at least a last resort. And if you're still unable to acquire park pass reservations for your desired date this time around, the tickets will remain valid for a certain length of time to use for another visit.
I'm so sorry that this wasn't more helpful, Baily. I hope you're able to find a way to get some Disney Days this long weekend. There's always the
Downtown Disney District for some shopping and dining fun, as well as plenty of other
Disney influences all over town, like on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in Griffith Park with its famous merry-go-round that inspired Walt to dream up his famous theme parks. And if you have any more questions, We're All Ears!
