Welcome to planDisney, Sara. Thanks for reaching out to us!
Ooh! A surprise visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort. So very exciting! Your son is in for a wonderful trip, especially during
the not-so-scary season. Autumn decor is all over...and treats (not tricks) abound at
Magic Kingdom Park,
Disney Springs, the
resort hotels, and more! So, as Winnifred Sanderson would say, "run amok!" And, of course, my favorite Sanderson Sister, Sarah, would agree! "Amok, amok, amok!"
Currently, to determine if a member of your travel party qualifies for the
Disability Access Service (DAS),
you must engage in a video chat with a friendly Cast Member at the resort. Just so you know, the Guest who you are trying to qualify must be present on the call. You can typically do this up to 30 days in advance of your visit. But since you want this visit to be a surprise, you can wait until you've arrived, surprise him, and then call! Just keep in mind that this must be done virtually.
Guest Relations will not be able to help determine if he's eligible.
While my favorite event of the current season is the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, Guests sometimes think that there's not much for kids to enjoy at this festival. But I'm here to tell you that's simply not true! The
Global Marketplaces around the park have lots of options that kids (and kids at heart) will enjoy. Just take a peek at
the menus for this year's festival! Some notable options are the mac and cheese offerings at Macatizers, pretty much the entire food menu at The Fry Basket, and the Chocolate Amarula Mousse at
Refreshment Outpost. And, of course, there's
Remy's Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt and
Pluto's Pumpkin Pursuit. Not to mention the
Kidcot Fun Stops that are typically offered year-round!
Sara, enjoy your trip to the resort. If you have any other questions,
please reach out again!
The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up,
Matt
