Welcome back to planDisney, Hannah!
Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation will be here in no time, so let's get right to an answer. Spoiler alert: Good news ahead!
As a Guest who has seen the use of the
Disability Access Service (DAS) while vacationing with a family member, I can tell you that DAS will give you access to the
Lightning Lane without needing to purchase Genie+ and/or Individual Lightning Lane. Also, yes, you may absolutely purchase Individual Lightning Lane access without purchasing Genie+. For example, when my family takes shorter day trips to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, we’ll usually opt for an Individual Lightning Lane purchase for
Avatar Flight of Passage instead of utilizing the Genie+ Service.
If you are an eligible Guest, remember to complete a virtual pre-registration for DAS Advance using live video chat. You may do this 2-30 days before your arrival. During this call, you'll be able to book up to two (2) one-hour return windows for theme park attractions. You will have the benefits of DAS for the entirety of your stay, and you may link up to five additional party members.
However, if you forget to do the pre-registration, like some of my friends and family do, no worries! You may set up DAS on the same day of your park visit. Simply visit Guest Services near each park's entrance to speak to a Cast Member to determine your eligibility and set you up for your first Lightning Lane return time. I highly recommend that you do the pre-registration, so that you start your day with two versus one return time window.
With that being said, you may find that purchasing Genie+ will still be worth it for you and your party. I personally haven’t tested this out yet; however, by combining the two options, you’ll be able to experience even more attractions using the Lightning Lane! In the
My Disney Experience App, you’ll be able to select return time windows for attractions using both the DAS Self-Selection Tool and Genie+. You may also visit a Guest Experience Team Cast Member at the blue umbrellas around each theme park to make your next Lightning Lane selection.
Please revisit us here at planDisney with any other Disney vacation planning questions. Have a wonderful time at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Magic always,
