Hi, Jessica!
Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks for stopping by to ask us a question about your upcoming vacation at the
Disneyland Resort. It will be here before you can say “bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!”
It sounds like you’ve heard about the
Disability Access Service (DAS) program for Guests who aren’t able to wait in a traditional attraction standby queue due to a developmental disability like autism. If approved, this service allows the individual and their party to receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. The best way to inquire is to have a pre-registration video chat before your vacation begins via the link on the
DAS registration page. Before you initiate the live chat, ensure that a
theme park ticket for every member of your family is linked via the
Disneyland mobile app or
disneyland.com (except your baby, who doesn’t need a ticket if they are under the age of three) and that you all have a
theme park reservation for the days of your visit. In my experience, infants and toddlers who don’t require a park ticket are generally not included in the headcount when considering party size for DAS, but you can confirm this and ask any other questions you may have during the video chat.
Keep in mind that you can also take advantage of
Rider Switch, which allows Guests traveling with young children to take turns experiencing attractions. One parent can ride with the older children while the other stays with any non-riders. When the riders return, the supervising adult can enjoy the attraction without waiting in line all over again. Simply go to the entrance of the attraction with your family and let a Cast Member know you’d like to use Rider Switch.
I hope this information is helpful, Jessica, and that your family’s visit is perfectly pixie-dusted! Please write back with any other questions you may have.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
