Hi Darci.Staying at Riverside for 1st time-5 of us. I've read reviews about the rooms looking old and want to get a nice one. Is there a section you prefer? What about the view? And I'm kinda worried about the bus system taking too long. Thanks!

I think my family most enjoyed our stay in Lodge 18 of Port Orleans Riverside's Alligator Bayou section, Liza.  We found it offered convenient proximity to the main lobby/food court area.  The main pool was a bit further away, but still within comfortable walking distance.  We didn't have a notable view, though; the only way to guarantee a pretty sight out your window is to upgrade to a water view room.  As for a recently refurbished room, your best bet is to add a request to your reservation, specifying that your family would prefer one.  We've always had good luck in getting such requests met at various Disney resorts.

My family has never relied on bus transportation at Port Orleans Riverside; we're the rental car type!  It's wise to build in some extra travel time (especially when heading out for a dining reservation) because Port Orleans Riverside is such a large resort and buses do have lots of passengers to transport.  Still, it's a charming resort and I hope your family enjoys your stay!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
