Darcie, Coming from Anaheim CA to MCO around 7PM NY Eve to the Poly. Will likely stick around the resort for the evening. We are all very excited, but do you have any recommendations for adjusting my 3 kids to the time change at WDW (DS14, DD9 &DD7)?

I know how tough it can be to lose those three hours from your day.  I have good news for you though!  My family tends to recover fairly quickly from it.  Perhaps it's the excitement of being at Disney World that helps.

I suggest the tried and true method of drinking plenty of water.  Also, if you can make sure everyone is rested up before travel, that will help as well.  One of the most important things I can think of, though, is to base your daily activities around Orlando time.  For instance, if your kids usually go to bed at 9 pm, try to have them tucked in by 9 on that first night, even though it will only be 6 in Anaheim.  It shouldn't be too difficult a task to manage anyway; your kiddos will likely be exhausted from a full day of travel and excitement.  That method has always worked very well for all of my kids.  And, quite honestly, the time zone change has not been too much of an issue for us.  Hopefully you'll be able to say the same!  Good luck and happy travels.

Meet the Panelist: Darcie, Alabama

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
