Hi Darcie! Your answer to my last question was so helpful I'd like to ask another: We (me, DW, DS3, DD7) will be staying at WL and will be taking the Illuminations cruise. What is our best exit strategy to avoid the crowds and get back to WL quickly?

I have the pleasure of answering vacation planning questions for so many guests, Patrick, but rarely am I treated to the fun of a repeat "customer".  I am so glad that my answer was helpful to you and even more glad that you've followed up with me for round two!

Do correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that you will be meeting in the Yacht/Beach Club marina area for your IllumiNations cruise.  If that is the case, you will also be returning to that same spot so there really shouldn't be any crowds to speak of.  But this is where the news turns maybe slightly sour.  The most quick and efficient route back to the Wilderness Lodge is via taxi.  You should expect the fare for that journey to be somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty dollars, but the good news is that the trip shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes.  If you'd rather keep your Andrew Jackson in your wallet, you're in for a bit of a haul.  You'll need to take a bus to Downtown Disney.  From there, hop another bus to Wilderness Lodge.  That trip, I'm afraid, will take significantly longer--all told, likely an hour or more.  And I don't know about you, but with two tired kids at the end of a long day, that taxi ride might just be a worthwhile expenditure.

Please don't hesitate to come back for round three if I can be of further assistance!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
