Harmony Barber Shop. Its memorabilia and dapper-dressed stylists add to its old-fashioned charm. I definitely understand why your son is interested in experiencing this corner of the Walt Disney World Resort.
One of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort memories is watching my younger son get his first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop. At first, given that my son's hair type is a super curly Type 3, I was a bit unsure about how the experience would pan out. Because of my uncertainty, his first haircut was more like a first trim. The stylists are state-licensed cosmetologists. Ours happily walked me through what products she would use, asked me how much hair I'd like for her to cut, and interacted with my son in a positive yet professional manner. His haircut, charged as a "My First Haircut" package, included a commemorative Mickey Ears hat, a lock of hair keepsake, and a certificate. The cut itself came out great, and his curls were popping!
My older son's hair type sounds like it is similar to your son's. He also has a coiler Type 4 curl pattern. The stylist told me that he, too, could be serviced at the shop. But he wears his hair low and from what I saw, it looks like the shop specializes in cuts that are achieved by using scissors versus using clippers. The shop also does beard trims, so I'm sure that it is doable.
AN EXTRA GEM: If you decide to visit the shop, I highly recommend booking an appointment online, but walk-ins are an option as well. It is on a first-come, first-served basis.
