Hey there, Victoria!
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so honored that you came to me with your question, because I also have a 1.5 year old little Simba who loves to pounce. So I fully understand both your excitement for the reimagined
Mickey’s Toontown, while also feeling apprehension about what the crowds will be like at first for this new addition to the
Disneyland Resort.
Victoria, just this week, I was fortunate enough to hear directly from the Walt Disney Imagineers who have
spent years developing new stories and experiences for the littlest Mouseketeers and their families. Personally, I’ve always loved the character meets and rides as an adult at Mickey’s Toontown, but now that I have a tumbly Tigger of my own in tow, I cannot express how happily anxious I am to see how interactive and play-focused this land will be.
If your twins are anything like my little man-cub, they love to climb, run and explore, but The Happiest Place On Earth can be a trying time for the smallest guest whose patience is still growing. The new Mickey’s Toontown will have open green space for younglings to run out their energy. The new design features more playspace for families to enjoy interactive, outdoor free play. I know I plan to spend as much time here as I can with my curious little Mouseketeer. A special touch that you might appreciate will be the “Kiss Goodnight”, a colorful fountain display each evening which will be perfect for little ones (like mine) who just can't stay awake long enough to enjoy the
nighttime spectacular.
I'll tell you a secret, Victoria: Donald Duck and I
share a birthday in June, and I love to visit him on our special day as often as I can. I look forward to seeing “the duck with all the bad luck” at the newest incarnation of his home, which is flooding from the inside out!
Donald’s Duck Pond will surely make a splash with our tiny tots, so make sure to bring a swimsuit for them to change into.
Now, I know I’m biased as an early-June baby, but as for the best time to visit with the least amount of crowding at the resort, I always find the very beginning of June to be perfect. The summer rush of visitors has not yet begun, and there will be plenty of sunshine headed your way (but not so much that you will be overheated and uncomfortable).
I bet you can tell how excited I am about bringing my toddler to the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown this year, and I hope I made you feel at ease about bringing yours too! I can’t wait to hear about what other plans you may have for your cast of characters, so please feel free to
keep your questions coming my way now that you’ve got a friend in me!
See ya real soon,
Danielle
