Hi Moms and Dads.Just booked CBR May 6-11 for pools for DS(3), but as I read about the bus transportation I am becoming nervous. How hard is it to deal with the many stops within the resort before heading out to the parks? Should I change resorts? Thanks!

    Hi Nycole.

Congratulations on your May vacation to Walt Disney World!

Caribbean Beach Resort is indeed a large resort. The theme and feature pool complex at the hub of the resort are fantastic. If walking distances within the resort to access the main pool are of concern, you'll find it worthwhile to pay for a preferred location room. The grounds are beautiful and the walks are pleasant, though some may be a bit long for little legs.

As far as bus stops go, there are seven. Depending on the direction each bus is traveling around the route, you may or may not be the first on or off ... or last. There is an internal bus that runs within the resort property to Old Port Royale as well as a foot-bridge that crosses over the middle of Barefoot Bay connecting the villages opposite Centertown.

If you love with the theme of the resort and main pool complex, it's definitely worth staying at, with the advance expectation that it may take a bit of time to get out the resort complex, or back to your village. However, if you're most concerned about time spent on the bus, this may not be the best resort for you.

If you're considering changing resorts to lessen your walking distances within your resort property and time on the bus, I'd highly recommend that you take a look at the also Moderately-priced Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. Much smaller & quite "quaint," it has a lovely themed pool area complete with water slide and only short walks. This resort is so small there's no need to request a preferred room location since nowhere is terribly far from the single bus stop or dining. This resort bus can make stops at the four 'Riverside' bus stops next door, but often times has its own bus, depending on Guest volumes. Another fun plus of French Quarter is the water taxi directly to Downtown Disney along the Sassagoula River.

Wishing you Magic as you plan for your May vacation Nycole!
