Hi Moms & Dads, I am planning on giving DS the Disney Welcome package which comes with Mickey ears, my ? is, will he be able to take the ears to the shops to do the New Create your own ears? Or do you have to buy them when you do it?

There is no way to do Create Your Own with the Mickey ears that come with the Disney Welcome package.

The ears that come with the Disney Welcome package are the classic basic black ears. They could be embroidered with your son's name (call the Disney florist at 407-827-3505 to arrange this), but beyond that there is no additional way to customize them.

The Create Your Own Ears (available at Le Chapeau in the Magic Kingdom) allows guests to assemble ears from the base on up. You start by buying a beanie base. You can get the base in black, but there are also nearly a dozen other beanie choices including seasonal options; I've even seen tie-dye style beanies. From there, you snap on ears of your choosing. Again, there are numerous colorful options and you can even add two different color ears. You can then add letters, patches, and other embellishments to give your ears your own personal style. At the end, you have a totally unique souvenir that's all about you.

I personally have a complete wardrobe of Mickey ears for every occasion. Perhaps your son would like to start his own collection by getting both the classic ears and his own special design.
