Hi Lynne,
Thank you for dropping by planDisney with a question!
Like your dad, my girls and I loved
1900 Park Fare. We always made an
advanced dining reservation there for every trip. Unfortunately, we do not yet have an opening date for this dining location. Keep your eye on the
dining updates page for news about reopening. As much as we have missed some of our favorite restaurants, we also have gotten a few new favorites. If you have not tried it,
Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera, is super cute. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck dressed in their artistic best have brightened our mornings with their antics. We always make a breakfast reservation here when we plan to visit EPCOT. After breakfast we just hop on the
Disney Skyliner to EPCOT. Note that, at this time, the characters only appear at breakfast.
I know it's hard to consider visiting when
theme park experiences seem so different, but we have visited several times since the parks reopened and each visit has been special for different reasons. There are things that we miss, but we have come to focus on our time together. Our Disney vacations are so important because they bring us together in a way that blocks out the craziness of the world for just a little while.
We took my parents on our girls' first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort just before the girls' started kindergarten. I still cherish those pictures. A few years later, I knew that my dad would probably not be able to travel with us again. We had so much fun on that trip. My parents got to see the girls' faces light up with every pixie dusted moment they experienced. We laughed and talked so much at the resort hotel. Those memories are priceless.
Lynne, if I could say anything, I would say that life is short. Enjoy it today. The good news is that there are several new attractions that might not replace The Great Movie Ride, but that are just delightful. Your dad has to ride
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway and
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. Also be sure to take a look at the
Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort festivities. And, if he has not experienced
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, a visit to Batuu is definitely recommended. Remember also that there are lots of ways to create a safer experience for your father. On our most recent visits, we dined at the beginning of a meal period so that restaurants were less crowded for much of our meal and we picked up quick-service food at the resort and ate on the patio in our resort hotel room. Consider your options and make the decision that is best for your family!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
