Hi Moms and Dads my family and I will be leaving for our vacation in 18 days.. YEAH but I wanted to know if any one knew how much it was to do a load of Laundry at POR. and is there detergent to buy there if so how much? Thanks

Hi, Angela! Since we're now Disney Vacation Club members, we usually stay in DVC Villas where there are washers and dryers in the rooms. With our family of six, we can generate some major laundry...even on a short trip. I love that we go home with suitcases full of clean clothes!

It has been a while, but from what I can remember, it costs around $2 per load (regular-sized) for the washer and another $2 for the dryer with laundry detergent being $1-2 for a single-sized amount. However, you might want to budget for $4-6 per load to dry since it usually takes several cycles to get completely dry. Also, unless they've upgraded the machines, you'll need to make sure you're stocked with quarters. I remember the change machine being out when I was doing a "marathon" laundry session.

All Disney resorts have self-serve laundry facilities -- usually located near the pool. So, it is possible to get your laundry done while you enjoy some pool time, too. Just take into account that other families have the same idea and may not check on their laundry in a timely fashion.

I would encourage you to bring your own dry laundry detergent by measuring it out into zip-top bags,or you can bring a small bottle of liquid detergent to wash out some items in the hotel sink or bath tub. Then, you can either let them drip dry in the bathroom, or take them down to the laundry facilities and throw them in the dryers. When we're staying in a regular resort room, I find that this takes less time and money, and I don't have to be a tied to the laundry for hours. Also, remember that an empty rolling suitcase makes for a great laundry basket!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
