Hi Moms (and Dad!)!! I was wondering if any of you had some input on the DDP vs. DDE. We are going to be in Disney from 5/2-5/11 with my family (me, husband and kids, ages 5, 4 and 1) and also my parents, who are passholders. Any thoughts? THANKS!!!

    Hi Jaime,

My family almost always does the Dining Plan.  During our last trip in March we got the Dining Experience Card instead.  When I got home I added up all of our receipts and took into account the cost of the card.  We ended up spending about $100 less than the cost of the Deluxe Dining Plan.  I did not take into consideration that we would have had to pay gratuity on the dining plan.

It was cheaper using the Dining Experience Card and even more so because we will be going down at least two more times within 12 months.

I think you would save money with the card if you eat at mostly table service restaurants and skip dessert.   If you spend your trip ordering the most expensive entrees and using all of your snacks, you may be able to save more (eat more) on the deluxe meal plan.

    Good luck deciding.
