Welcome to planDisney, Tia.
There really is no better place to celebrate than The Most Magical Place on Earth. Having personally celebrated special occasions at Walt Disney World, I have some suggestions for you to make your dad's 50th birthday "practically perfect in every way."
Here's a simple, yet fun way to make your dad feel special on his birthday: Stop by Guest Relations at any Theme Park and tell a Cast Member that you're celebrating. They'll wave their magic wand and *poof* just like that, a special birthday button will appear. Your dad can wear this birthday button throughout his trip. Cast Members and even fellow Guests will see it and be able to wish him a "Happy Birthday!"
You can also order your dad a special
Mickey Mouse celebration cake. You can pre-order it (choosing the flavor, size, and custom engraving) and have it delivered to any participating restaurant. Speaking of restaurants, "What could be more important than a little something to eat?" There are many
brilliant options to choose from. My personal recommendations would be California Grill, Cítricos, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Jiko – The Cooking Place, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Narcoosee’s, Steakhouse 71, or Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. You can make dining reservations up to 60 days in advance of your arrival date. Since tables book up fast (and I'm talking Lightning McQueen fast), you'll want to make your reservations as soon as possible.
If your dad would enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience, then have a peek at the
Enchanting Extras Collection. What better way to celebrate his 50th birthday than a VIP fireworks party, a spectacular show, or even a fascinating tour? On my most recent trip, I was able to enjoy a VIP dessert and fireworks viewing of Harmonious with my planDisney friends. We also had the joy of watching
Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney. Both experiences were truly magical! If your dad would appreciate not only makin' memories but capturing those memories in a special way, then you could book a
Capture Your Moment photo session at Magic Kingdom Park.
When it comes to Disney Resorts Collection hotels, you can't go wrong. I genuinely think they all have their own charm and would offer your dad a unique sprinkle of magic. However, if I had to recommend my top three places to stay for adults it would be (drum roll please):
- Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - fabulous dining, elegant vibe, stunning views, monorail access, and a short walk from Magic Kingdom Park.
- Disney's Beach Club Resort - walking distance to EPCOT, Disney's BoardWalk, and Disney Skyliner, charming vibe, and access to Stormalong Bay.
- Disney's Riveria Resort - stylish, delectable dining, access to Disney Skyliner.
One final suggestion: Something I always ask people when they're planning a special occasion for a loved one is this: "What would they find special?" It might be something extravagant like some of the options above. However, it might be something simple. An ice cream on Main Street, USA, whilst watching the parade. Taking a water taxi across Seven Seas Lagoon as the fireworks paint the night sky. Walking around World Showcase and reminiscing about life. Tia, you know your dad best. I trust you'll give him the BEST. DAY. EVER!
