My dad will be turning 60 when we visit WDW in September. We will also have our 3 yr and 4 yr old boys along. Any suggestions on non-character dining, but still special dining spots to celebrate his big day?

Absolutely!  The first thing to spring to mind is the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue.  It is a dinner show that takes place in Pioneer Hall at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.  The menu is set, and all-you-care-to-enjoy and features: green salad, cornbread, baked beans, ribs, fried chicken and more.  Unlimited beer, wine and sangria are also included with your meal.  The show is a toe-tappin', slap-stick comedy with plenty of audience participation.  The performers go out of their way to bring special attention to guests who happen to be celebrating either a birthday or anniversary (on the actual date).  It is a very popular event and a favorite of many; perhaps it's just the thing for your father's milestone celebration!

Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
