Hiya Michael,
Welcome to planDisney! Please pass along my sincerest thanks to your father for his service. As the daughter of two veterans, I will always be grateful for the sacrifice they and all veterans have made. I think it is fantastic that Walt Disney World Resort is also honoring that sacrifice through
Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Tickets. What an incredible way to allow military families to make magical memories together all year round.
Great question, by the way, Michael. My parents were looking to purchase a ticket for themselves and my three-year-old, so I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on this topic. So if your father is an Eligible Service Member, he can purchase up to 6 Disney Celebrates America Salute Tickets per year. One of those tickets must be used by him (or his spouse), but the other tickets can be shared among friends and family (including you and your daughter). I spoke to Jane, an excellent magic maker at
Shades of Green, and she said that your father will need to be present to activate the ticket at the theme park on the first day. He must also enter the theme park with you on the first day. After the first visit, however, he does not need to be present with you on each visit.
I hope this was helpful, Michael. Before I let you go, one thing your father might also want to consider is getting
Memory Maker. Eligible Service Members can also purchase a discounted Memory Maker. Since your dad will be joining you all on your first use of the ticket, this is an excellent opportunity for grandpa to get photos with his granddaughter. My parents always love looking back at pictures of their trips with our littles and seeing how much they’ve grown each time. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
